What do we need to prepare a delicious truffle cream?

In these months when black truffles are in season, we are sure that you have stocked up on some, and now perhaps you don't know what to use them for because you have tired of simply grating them on top of other dishes.

For those moments we give you the solution, a truffle cream for which you will only need these ingredients:

  • 1 Black Truffle (50-60 grams)
  • 40 grams of butter
  • 150 milliliters of cooking cream
  • Salt and pepper
  • A quarter of a liter of broth of your choice, vegetables, meat, ...
  • Cheese to grate (optional, although everything always improves with cheese)

The ideal, if you have decided to add cheese, is to look for a cheese that melts relatively well so that it is integrated and you get a homogeneous cream, for this we recommend mozzarella cheese, although parmesan gives an incredible touch to this recipe.

How to prepare truffle cream at home

Truffle cream is an ideal accompaniment to perfectly appreciate the intense flavor of black truffle. You can add it to any dish to enjoy a pronounced truffle flavor.

If you want to learn how to prepare it at home in a simple way, here we show you step by step what you should do.

Let's start:

  1. We will start by heating a saucepan over medium heat in which we will put the butter, allowing it to melt slowly. To enhance all the flavors of this recipe, we recommend toasting the butter. Simply wait for it to turn brown and release its aroma.
  2. Once the butter is toasted, lower the heat and add the cooking cream. Let it heat over low heat for a few minutes until it reduces. At this point we can also add the broth so that everything is integrated together.
  3. When we have the cream reduced, we add a generous amount of grated truffle, which will provide us with that intense flavor and aroma that we are looking for. This is the time to add salt and pepper to enhance the flavour even more.
  4. Finally, if you have decided to add cheese, grate a good amount and stir until it melts and integrates with the cream. Once you have a homogeneous cream, it is time to serve and enjoy.

If you want to achieve an even more intense flavour, use truffle butter, which will enhance the flavour of the black truffle to the maximum. We also recommend adding a little truffle oil on top of the cream just before eating it.

Uses of truffle cream

Once you have your truffle cream ready, you can eat it on its own, but you can also use it in other dishes.

What do you think about using it as a sauce for a pasta dish?

It is a perfect idea, since truffle and cheese combine perfectly with good quality pasta.

To do this, we recommend that you follow the previous recipe but do not reduce the cooking cream too much, or alternatively, add more broth. The idea of this is to make the cream less thick, we will need it more liquid to be able to integrate it better with the pasta.

Cook a handful of noodles while you make your truffle cream and then transfer them to a frying pan over medium heat, while you drizzle them with the sauce you just prepared. Stir everything together for a few minutes and plate, although before serving we recommend grating a little more truffle and parmesan cheese on top as a final presentation.

This dish combines the intensity of the flavor of the truffle with the umami of the cheese, once you try it you won't regret it.
