This is a typical sweet from the province of Teruel, Aragon, Spain. They are a jewel in the pastries of Teruel, they reflect the richness of the culinary tradition. This dessert is an example of the use of local and fresh ingredients, representing traditional Aragonese cuisine. Its name adds a romantic touch and charm to the gastronomic experience.

The name of "suspiros de amante" is inspired by the story of the Lovers of Teruel, Diego and Isabel.


- Fresh cheese, Teruel cheese is preferable due to its quality.

- Sugar, to give it that characteristic sweetness.

- Eggs, they provide structure and softness.

- Puff pastry or shortcrust pastry.

- Butter, it gives it that creaminess.

- Lemon, to give it a touch of freshness.


We start by preparing the base with the puff pastry (you can make it yourself or buy it)

- Preheat the oven to 180º.

- Roll out the dough and cut 12 circles.

- Place the 12 circles in molds and put weight on them so that the dough does not rise when cooked in the oven.

- Bake for 10 minutes at 180º.

- Take out and set aside.

- In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter, add sugar and mix until you have a homogeneous mixture.

Diego asked his family for 5 years until he got a fortune and Isabel swore to wait for him, but Isabel fell out with a rich man. Diego returned and showed up on the night of their wedding, asking for a kiss as proof of love, Isabel denied it and Diego died of grief.

The next day, at Diego's funeral, Isabel kisses Diego. Diego and dies falling on his body.

Since then they have been buried together.
