BEANS WITH HAM: HOW DO YOU PREPARE THEM?

Do you have leftover ham at home and don't know how to use it without resorting to the same old recipes? We have the solution!

Today we'll teach you how to cook these broad beans with ham, an easy and healthy recipe that will be a hit.

Tips to prepare a 5-star dish

The key to making this type of dish, with few ingredients, as flavorful as possible is to use quality ingredients.

For this recipe, as you can imagine, the star ingredients are broad beans and ham. We recommend using a quality ham, such as our Teruel Designation of Origin ham. This ensures that the dish's flavor is even more intense.

In addition to the ham, the other important factor is the broad beans. We recommend using fresh beans, if possible, even though the recipe is more tedious, as the difference with frozen broad beans is very noticeable.

What do we need?

  • 250g shelled broad beans
  • Salt
  • 1 garlic clove
  • 1 onion
  • 100g Serrano ham
  • Olive oil

To prepare this dish, you can use fresh, frozen, or canned broad beans, depending on whether you want to make an express recipe or prioritize the natural flavor of fresh beans.

We recommend using fresh broad beans if they're in season, as they'll enhance their flavor.

We start with the recipe

Now that we've covered what we need to cook this dish, let's get to it:

  1. We'll start by julienne-cutting the onion and sautéing it in a saucepan. Add a drizzle of olive oil and let it cook until golden.
  2. Next, once the onion has browned, add the broad beans (fresh or in the format you've chosen).
  3. Cover the saucepan and let them cook over low heat for approximately 10 minutes, stirring all the while to ensure they cook evenly.
  4. Once the broad beans are cooked and tender, add the diced ham.
  5. Stir well to infuse both flavors, then let it cook for another 5 minutes.
  6. Now all that's left is to serve on a plate and enjoy the meal while it's hot.

WHAT CAN WE ACCOMPANY BEANS WITH HAM?

Without a doubt, the dish of broad beans with ham is exquisite in itself, but we can go even further by pairing them with other dishes.

A classic is to add a fried egg; everything improves with a fried egg, honestly. The flavor of the egg combined with the ham will add an extra touch to the dish, in addition to adding the "sauce" of the egg yolk as an extra touch.

We can also pair them with grilled meat, two flavors that also go perfectly together.
