The truffle fair in Sarrión: Fitruf
A fair at the beginning of December, in Sarrión, focused solely and exclusively on the truffle.
You will be able to learn a lot at it since both sellers and buyers come together to talk about this great product, in addition to being able to learn with the different talks or tastings.
The best of all this is also the fact of being able to talk to the producers and truffle growers themselves to be able to share the knowledge of the black truffle.
More than 20,000 visitors gathered in the year 2024, observing the 40 different exhibitors who made them see why this truffle fair is a leader in the truffle farming sector in Spain and one of the most important in Europe.
It is considered that with the help of today's great progress with the truffle, it will gradually gain greater momentum in research and genetic improvement of truffle species, which will be collaborative to ensure the sustainability and quality of the product in the long term.
ORIGIN OF THE SARRIÓN BLACK TRUFFLE FAIR
The first Monographic Fair of the Black Truffle of Sarrión (FITRUF)
To make it possible, they made collaborations with public entities, financial entities and associations related to the truffle sector.
One of the main objectives was to take advantage of the possibility of cultivating (in Sarrión and surrounding areas, Teruel and Gúdar-Javalambre), thanks to the good climate in relation to altitude and soil.
This fair began with support from the Sarrión City Council and then by truffle growers' associations, so you had the possibility of growing economically, at a rural level and with a place that had a unique knowledge of black truffles.
SARRIÓN, CAPITAL OF THE BLACK TRUFFLE
Sarrión, a town located in the Gúdar-Javalambre region, in Teruel.
This place has many benefits when it comes to growing truffles, since in terms of climate it has cold winters, in addition to thermal variations.
It also helps that the climate and altitude greatly favor the mycelium and mycorrhizae of the black truffle.
Thanks to this fair, Sarrión has managed to attract many people, including haute cuisine chefs from all over the world, due to its intense flavor and aroma.
WORLD BLACK TRUFFLE FAIRS
The Alba Truffle Fair, a must-attend event in Italy, typically held between October and December, attracts thousands of people to enjoy the white truffle.
This truffle is unique due to the soil and climate conditions of Piedmont; it grows wild and ripens between October and December.
The White Truffle Festival is also held in Mexico, an event that includes other truffle fairs.
There's also the Soria Truffle Fair. There, you can experience experiences that will enhance your knowledge of the black truffle. Various culinary activities are held, from cultivation techniques to pairing with other products.
