Let's begin:
- Wash the orange and lemon and cut them into thin slices or cubes.
- Place all the fruit slices (or cubes) in a large pitcher, pour in the wine completely, and add the tablespoons of sugar.
- Stir well until the sugar dissolves; you can also substitute honey or agave.
- If using liqueur, add a splash of a fruitier liqueur, such as punch.
- Add the soda before serving and stir. Finally, add the ice and let it chill for approximately 5 minutes.
We recommend adding the ice as the last step, and instead of placing it in the pitcher, add it directly to the glasses in which you will serve your sangria.
This will prevent the drink from becoming excessively "watered down," as the ice cubes will melt over time. If they're in the pitcher, the entire sangria will be diluted by the water they release, gradually weakening its flavor.
Enjoy this drink very cold, which will refresh you during the hottest hours. For extra chill, you can place the glasses in the freezer about 20 minutes before serving; this way, it will stay cool longer.
