What is sweet chorizo?
The sweet chorizo is a variety of chorizo characterized mainly by its savory and sweet flavor.
Sweet chorizo is traditionally made with pork. The meat is mixed with lean pork, salt, pepper and sweet paprika. Among others and in some cases, it may have added nuts.
The mixture is stuffed into natural or synthetic pig casings and left to cure and dry for a certain period of time to develop its flavor and texture characteristic that is usually around 20 days. The sweet chorizo can be cured or it can be fresh, there are different forms, such as a string.
What is chorizo string?
The string chorizo is a sausage that is characterized by its horseshoe shape, it is named for its similarity to a string or string. It is very typical of the Aragon region, where it is made as we have previously mentioned with pork, paprika, salt and spices. Recipes with sweet chorizo
Sweet chorizo is a food widely used in the Spanish recipe book.
This recipe book is very extensive, so we are going to give some possible recipes that you can use with the sweet chorizo:
1.- Scrambled eggs with sweet chorizo:Cut the chorizo into several slices, fry them and once fried, make the fried eggs in the same pan. Fried eggs, chorizo, will be combined with fried potatoes.
2. Pasta with sweet chorizo and tomato: Boil the pasta until done. Sauté the sweet chorizo in a pan with a little olive oil, until it is golden and releases a little juice. Add the halved cherry tomatoes and sauté for a few minutes. Add the already cooked pasta to the pan and stir. To finish you can add a little grated cheese together with a little fresh parsley to garnish.
3. Lentils with Chorizo: To make lentils with chorizo, start by soaking the lentils, then cook the chorizo with onion, garlic, carrots, and tomatoes. Add the drained lentils, bay leaf, smoked paprika, salt and pepper, and cover with vegetable broth. Cook over low heat until the lentils are tender, adjust the seasoning and serve hot.
